The weeks are flying by.   The weekend was spent cleaning, baking, walking in a wood carpeted with snowdrops and sewing, so much sewing!  I've made all I am going to make for Mother's Day now and am now starting on Easter things.  Blossom the bunny above is my favourite thing so far.  She is made from a design by Gingermelon on Etsy - check out her designs they are beautiful. She is only 20 cms high, but completely hand sewn so they take quite a while to make and  I have so many orders already I had better go and get on with them! x

Youngest son Ben:  What are you making mum?

Me:  Mother's Day cards

Ben:  Great, can I have one?

Me:  No, buy your own!

Ben: But yours are so much nicer than the shops!

He'll go far!

My computer packed up last week, so posts will be a bit sporadic until I get a new one, I'm using Ben's laptop when I can get onto it, so sorry I'm not reading many blogs or posting much at the moment x

Everything stops for tea

I am a coffee drinker.  I love it.  I never drink instant, I'd rather go to the trouble of making proper coffee or drinking it out.  Unfortunately I don't like tea.  I wish I did, I am envious of the whole ceremony of tea drinking and afternoon tea.

We have been making tea cosies and they have proven to be really popular

As a non tea drinker, I don't get it!

How do you all feel about them?  Are they necessary or just there to look pretty.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining! Julie x

Despite our frustration with minimum orders at the Spring Fayre on Wednesday, we did have a fun day.  It was interesting seeing what the 'next new thing' would be - I saw a lot of fox merchandise.  Whenever we go to events we always end up getting lost and this time was no exception, we ended up driving through the middle of Birmingham and then my friend's windscreen washer packed up so we had to pull up on the side of the road and throw bottled evian on the windscreen.  This caused much hilarity, as we wondered if the locals thought we were too posh to use normal tap water on the car! My legs still ache after all that walking, but what impressed me was how many women attended in high heels.

On the making front, the storks are proving to be a real hit, my favourite one made this week is Stanley, he is for a little boy who will be two next week.

I am a bit birded out now, to be honest, so it was nice to make something different.  I especially loved using the summery fabric on this bag, makes you think of sunshine and spring on it's way

Have a lovely weekend everyone

Went to the Spring Fayre at the NEC in Birmingham today.  It was huge, 17 miles of aisles and my feet are feeling it now!  We were told off a couple of times for taking photos so this is the only one I got, sorry.  It was very inspiring, but frustrating as a very small business.  When we asked the price of things, most suppliers had a £250 spend minimum, which for us to be able to buy ribbons etc wasn't viable at all.  Never mind, it was a nice day out and some of the room layouts were beautiful, I did feel a little bit deflated when I returned to my home, which was looking decidedly lived in!

January...

...came and went very quickly, it seems ages since Christmas doesn't it?  I've almost hibernated and have felt quite lethargic all month.  I certainly haven't got as much done as I hoped to.  I'm hoping the weather will improve which will make me get up off my backside and do stuff!

I'm a bit bird obsessed at the moment.  Have had some lovely birds in the garden feeding, but unfortunately do not have a good enough camera to get any decent shots, we've had great tits looking at our nest boxes already so hopefully will have babies again this year.  I've also made a couple more birds this week

Olive the Owl

and Stella the Stork

Have a lovely weekend everyone. Julie x
